ACN continued its Asian expansion plans, which started with South Korea in 2010, by opening its new headquarters in Japan in mid-July. Based in the Minato neighbourhood of Tokyo, it provides a meeting space, a call centre, corporate offices and a product storefront, all of which allows ACN to provide service and support locally to current and future Independent Business Owners and customers.
VP of Sales Danny Bae, who has had more than two decades’ worth of success in the direct selling industry will be heading up the Japanese operation. As an ACN IBO for many years, and the driving force behind ACN’s Asian expansion, Bae has hands-on experience to help develop leaders in Japan, as he has successfully done in South Korea.
“As the third largest direct selling market worldwide, Japan was incredibly appealing to us,” said ACN President and Co-Founder Greg Provenzano. “But it was the people that sealed the deal when selecting Japan to continue our Asian expansion.”
Actually, Japan has many attractive attributes in the direct selling industry and some in particular for ACN. Japan has approximately 3.3 million people involved in Direct Selling (2014) representing a market that is estimated to be worth USD 16.7 billion (2014). Further to this, the Cosmetic and Wellness categories account for approximately 60% of products sold, which bodes extremely well for ACN’s offering in this area.
Despite starting as a direct seller of telecommunications, ACN have since introduced an innovative strategy that combines the services industry with the health and wellness category in many of its international markets. That’s why ACN Japan will initially focus on offering its BenevitaTM product line, a premium lifestyle brand that provides wellness, nutrition and weight management products. Later on, ACN will be introducing a variety of services to customers, including wireless, energy and internet.
Japan is 25th country that ACN has launched in. Other countries include: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States
